How to read sector performance

Trend followers look for money moving into a sector before the stocks inside it break out. A sector that leads over 30 days and still holds up over 7 days shows steady strength; a sector that leads the week but lags the month can be early rotation. Relative strength against SPY separates a sector that is rising with the market from one that is beating it.
