RSI Scanner: Free Daily Oversold and Overbought Stocks
This RSI scanner checks the 14-day RSI of US stocks every trading day for two things: crosses back out of oversold and overbought territory, and stocks sitting at extreme readings. The free results use final daily data and run five trading sessions late.
Free view Signals through Oct 9, prices through Oct 16, 2026. Signals run 5 trading days late. Last refreshed Oct 18, 4:52 PM ET. New picks and prices arrive about 2 AM ET after each trading day.
The five free picks span Healthcare, Utilities, Financial Services, and Real Estate. Two Healthcare picks, ABCL and AVTR, sit in the group, with ABCL down 15.17% and AVTR up 5.8% since their signals. Three picks also matched RSI Divergence signals: ABCL, AEP, and ASST. The SPY regime filter is the Daily Pivot Breakout regime filter, and SPY is above its 100-day average by 0.7%. Key Takeaways
- Crosses: RSI 14 moves back above 30 (from 30 or below) or back below 70 (from 70 or above).
- Extremes: RSI 14 below 20 (oversold) or above 80 (overbought) on the signal session.
- RSI uses Wilder smoothing on daily closes with at least 100 sessions of history.
Free cards also require a close above $5, more than $10 million traded on the signal day, a current market cap of at least $2 billion, and they skip likely buyouts: stocks whose price has stayed within 3% for 10 sessions, which usually means a pending deal.
The exact RSI rules
- RSI 14 uses Wilder smoothing: the first average gain and loss are the means of the first 14 daily changes, then each day weights the previous average 13/14 and the new change 1/14.
- Bullish cross: RSI was 30 or below on the prior session and is above 30 on the signal session.
- Bearish cross: RSI was 70 or above on the prior session and is below 70 on the signal session.
- Oversold list: RSI below 20. Overbought list: RSI above 80. Exactly 20 or 80 does not qualify.
- Price only: no volume filter is part of these signals.
How to read the four lists
A cross back above 30 shows momentum turning up after a weak stretch; a cross back below 70 shows momentum fading after a strong stretch. The oversold and overbought lists show stocks still at the extremes, which can stay extreme for a while in strong trends.
RSI is not relative strength
RSI compares a stock’s recent gains and losses with itself. Relative strength compares a stock’s return with other stocks; see the relative strength scanner for that. For divergences between price and RSI, use the RSI divergence scanner.
What the delay means
The free cutoff is five actual exchange trading sessions behind the latest complete daily-data session. Weekends and holidays do not count. The page updates automatically from stored final scan results and never shows forming-candle matches. Charts can extend to the latest final close, but signal markers stop at the delayed cutoff.
Current scanners and trade tracking
The Financial Tech Wiz Trading Journal shows every rsi signal the day it happens, the full history with a chart for each signal, and trade tracking with performance analytics. Its developing daily scans are labeled preliminary and confirm after the daily close.

FAQ
What does an RSI scanner do?
An RSI scanner checks many stocks for Relative Strength Index readings or crosses, such as RSI moving back above 30 or sitting above 80, so you can review those charts first.
Is an RSI of 30 a buy signal?
No single RSI level is a buy signal. RSI near or below 30 shows weak recent momentum; this scanner lists the moment RSI moves back above 30 so you can study whether the stock is stabilizing.
What RSI settings does this scanner use?
It uses a 14-day RSI with Wilder smoothing on daily closing prices, crosses at 30 and 70, and extreme lists below 20 and above 80.
